I have been using 11.10 for a few weeks now on a new system and must admit that I do like it a great deal and I can use all the programs that I want to. So with that in mind I am going to update my main system which is currently running 11.04. I keep on getting the 11.10 update message in the update manager and really want to click ok OK, but I have had bad experiences in the past and want to make sure all is OK this time, before I do it.
Last time I did this process, admitling a few years ago, my system would not boot up again, so now I have looked into it and can see that I have a few options available. One of them is to copy my user folder and then to go for it. My question is that if I do this and then the worst happens, can I install a fresh copy of 11.10 and then put the copy of my user floder in the correct location will this be enough to get going?
Or is there a better way of doing the update to ensure that if things go wrong, I can get back on my feet again soon?
