Hello Friends,

I was about to install the VMware View 32 bit client on my Xubuntu 11.10 x64 box, when I noticed it was going to remove the xubuntu-desktop.

Is there a way I can just get the binary of the package without losing Xubuntu?

I am also aware of the VMware-View-OpenClient, but I wouldn't be able to use it, since it does not support PCoIP.

Attached is the dialog which I cancelled from Synaptic when I was going to install the client.

xubuntu-desktop is a "meta-package" that includes some settings and such that would be changed by the software you want to install.

You will not lose Xubuntu by installing anything! The metapackage can be safely removed.

Thanks for the reply.

I hit the Mark button to accept the change this time. But it now gave me an error.

I am going to try to install all the dependencies it listed and then try again tomorrow.

Hi dan. Could you point me to the instructions for installing VMView on Xubuntu please. I'm trying to find a Linux option that lets me install it with all/most other apps blocked for some older PCs and Xubuntu looks like it might be an option.

Do you have USB redirection working on it?

Many thanks
