im posting in this forum as it seems to be specific to KDE not just a particular distro, already tried it with mint/ arch/ kubuntu. i'm unable to drag and drop any files to my phone as a result of this and it's become kind of a deal breaker for me as i flash my phone rather frequently. device im trying to mount is a samsung galaxy s captivate (SGH-i897) perhaps some one has found a work around for this???????????

(other then installing a bunch of gtk packages obviously)

I too have this issue. I can't seem to get it to recognize my Galaxy S3 as an MTP device.

I'd like a nice gui tool also. My workaround so far is to use mtpfs. To use, install it with sudo apt-get install mtpfs then run it as a regular user like this: mtpfs /mnt or wherever you want to mount it. You should then be able to browse your mtp device on your filesystem. This isn't perfect though. I've noticed it's slow and can screw up copying directories sometimes.
