View Full Version : Unity + Gnome-shell desktops

The one thing I really do like about gnome-shell is the way they handle their virtual desktops. I would love to see this implemented with unity. Maybe even to the point that when you maximize an application it essentially would create a virtual desktop for it. Although, I'm crazy too, so don't much stock in what I say.

Unity wouldn't be losing much in the deal, since it makes very little use of workspaces. But the eventual plan as I understand it is to have the Launcher ignore applications on other workspaces, and I wouldn't be surprised to see a window spread per workspace in some future version, since that's how workspaces were handled in the Mutter-based Unity from 10.10. It would be better to see a workspace method thought through for Unity than importing one from somewhere else. The workspace method in Shell only really works because of its integration with application launching and switching in the overview.
