Hi everybody!

When I try to install Ubuntu 11.10 (64bit) on my Windows XP PC (32bit, AMD Athlon 64 X2) as a dual boot, all I see is a black screen with some scrambled graphics on the very top and bottom of the screen (that looks like parts of my XP wallpaper, actually): http://i.imgur.com/EYYlc.jpg (Warning - cellphone pic...)
This happens right after I restart my PC and choose to boot Ubuntu with wubi, as well as when I'm trying to boot and install Ubuntu straight from the CD. It also happens when I use the manual installation, right after I choose Install, btw.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

You are not clear on if the computer has a 32 bit or 64 bit processor. If it is 32 bit you have no chance of installing a 64 bit operating system (Windows or Linux)on it.

Your best bet is to install the version of Ubuntu 11.10 appropriate to the processor. You can download 32 or 64 bit "flavours"

Have you installed Ubuntu in its own partition or through Windows (wubi)?
If it's in its own partition you could try the nomodeset boot option
