Today I revived a computer running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS wanting to upgrade. First I installed the necessary updates, but several failed to install properly. I went ahead with the upgrade and it hung on install. When I went to the bugfix script it hung completely. When I reboot, it hangs during the initial 10.04 splash screen.
So I went to another PC and downloaded ver 11.1 to a CD to do a clean install, set the BIOS to boot first from the CDROM drive. But it seems to skip over it to try booting from the old corrupt 10.04 version. This is despite the fact that the same CD will boot to ver. 11.1 fine on my Windows PC. Yipes!
