Hi guys and girls!

I wanted to test Ubuntu 12.04 and installed PC (Intel x86) desktop CD (http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/precise-desktop-i386.iso) version. However, when I run
uname -a
I get 3.2.0-23-generic-pae #36-Ubuntu SMP Tue Apr 10 22:19:09 UTC 2012 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
which means that it is 32 bit version... I have installation on stationary of 11.10 which did installed 64 bits...

Is it a bug or did I failed somehow?

i386 (or x86) is 32-bit.

amd64 is 64-bit (doesn't matter if AMD or Intel, it is just that AMD was first to come up with x86 compatible 64-bit cpu)

It is to avoid confusion like this that from the release of 12.04 the recommended version will no longer be i386 but amd64.
