Hi,

I read last year that some ASUS eee PC models would be available to buy with Ubuntu pre loaded...

Any one know if this ever happened and if so where i can buy one?

Any one got any thoughts on this?... do I need to post it in a different part of the forum?

Thanks

They went with MeeGo instead (http://www.asus.com/Eee/Eee_PC/Eee_PC_X101/). They're nice, though, and of course they shouldn't have any support issues with Ubuntu. They're limited to 1 GB of RAM, unfortunately, which in my opinion isn't quite enough for a fully smooth Ubuntu UX.

Edit: Technically, I see that the models that were originally pitched last year as getting Ubuntu OEM installs just never got them. Odd. But Ubuntu is apparently not Asus' Linux of choice in any case, which is unfortunate. I like Asus, and I wouldn't mind them saving me a step. = )

Edit again: Wait - apparently the RAM can still be swapped out. Don't know what I was thinking, there. Huh.

Dunno about an EeePc but you can buy a MeeNee from Amazon (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Meenee-MNB737-Generation-Laptop-Bluetooth/dp/B004GGBUJY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1334507175&sr=8-2)

With Ubuntu pre-installed on it
