installation problem in Ubuntu software center

I'm facing installation problem from Ubuntu software center. I was trying to install VLC Media Player. But I'm getting msg "Check your Internet connection". Can any one help me on this? I've attested the screen shot of this problem.

I'm using Toshiba Satellite L735-128

In Ubuntu software center >edit>repositories> under updates check first two.Refesh and try again.

I've had this problem before for a different application, but what solved the problem for me was using the terminal screen to install what I was installing.

you need to do a software update first. upper right corner near your user name the wheel open the menu click update software window open click the check button install everything listed reboot ..

once you do that return and try to install the VLC software your linux install must be up to date first ...
