View Full Version : [ubuntu] HDMI Issues

Hi everyone,

I recently installed the Ubuntu 12.04 beta on my machine. I'm having two issues with HDMI. First - Ubuntu randomly seems to decide whether I can output to HDMI audio. One boot it will work fine, the next it won't. A couple more reboots and HDMI audio will once again be an option.

Second issue is that the HDMI monitor does not seem to be detected correctly unless it is on before the computer boots.

These both happen whether I use the AMD Catalyst driver available from Jockey or the one from AMD's website.

Here is my relevant hardware:
-AMD A8-3850 APU
-ECS A75F-A motherboard
-Acer H274HL monitor
-Onkyo 2.1 sound system.

The monitor is connected to the Onkyo system and then the Onkyo system is connected to the PC's HDMI port.

FYI neither of these problems occurs when I install Windows 7 on the system. Also, if you're wondering what happens under Ubuntu 11.10, I can't tell you - that version won't boot because of some issue with the APU.

Any thoughts/fixes? Thanks in advance!
