Editing a Cinnamon Theme?

I like Cinnamon and found a theme I really like except the menu background is too dark, as are all the themes I have tried. I have looked around some and can't seem to find any info on editing themes.
I have no programing skills but I can edit a text file and know my way around the GIMP ok.
Any pointers or suggestions.

Isn't Cinnamon a desktop from Linux Mint, maybe a post on the Mint forum?

I think the Cinnamon DE and Mint are two different projects.

Cinnamon is not supported by Ubuntu nor by its founder Canonical. It is entirely developed by Linux Mint developers. So go to either Linux mint forum to discuss about it or go to http://cinnamon.linuxmint.com/ to find any help you will get.....
