Hi,

I've got an Ubuntu VM running on an Ubuntu host, and I'm wondering what I could use the systems for.

Currently, the VM is acting as a web server, with both the host and the VM also running SSH servers. One of them will act as a Time Capsule too, once I get around to setting that back up after a recent format.

My question now is: what interesting things can I set up next? Print servers, IMAP servers?

I'd like to make the machine act as an iTunes server, but I'm not sure that's even possible.

Cheers.

FTP server for backup/file transfer/storage? Samba server to stream media across your network? Bittorrent client?

I have multiple services running on my ubuntu server:

-wordpress blog as main site
-mediawiki
-phpbb3 forum
-teamspeak 3 VoIP server
-etc...

All for fun and to learn ;)

I've got access for storage via Apple file sharing, and don't use FTP because OpenSSH offers SFTP.

Really like the idea of running a forum on there, though. Not really sure what it would be for.

Any experience setting up IMAP, too?

Cheers!

Email and DNS servers are the 2 I haven't played around with at all yet

As for forum software, I recommend phpbb3 as its pretty popular, free, and many themes available for it. You can check a demo of it out HERE (http://www.forum-software.org/demo/phpbb3)
