I've searched google for answers on this but cannot get a definitive answer.

If one would make a Live USB Install Drive from a ubuntu .iso and made at least 500mb of persistent space on it and launched it and performed all of the latest updates from "Update Manager", would these updates be applied to a new installation using this USB drive?

I am getting sick of setting up systems for clients and having to wait forever for updates to be done each time I do a new installation.

I've tried APTonCD and for the life of me I could never get the new installation to recognize these packages, it always went back to the net and re-downloaded them, this is why I am thinking about the USB stick option, #1 it loads and installs faster than a CD-ROM and #2 if it retains all the updates cool! cause this is my goal.

Thanks everyone.

I don't know whether or not it would apply the updates, but the best way to find out is to try.

Exactly my thoughts, but wanted to hear others opinion or actual know how.

Thanks anyway.
