[11.10] programs doesnt start after some hibernate/suspend

Hi All

have an issue with my Ubuntu 11.10 with GNOME.
after clean reboot I can hibernate/suspend my system only couple of times
after that I'm not able to run any programs.
i.e. starting vlc I can see that process has started (in process list) but cant see this app on the desktop (same issue with LibreOffice apps and many others)

could you please advise what could be the issue?
it's annoying to do reboot every 1-2 days.

and one more question: why when I hibernate my system it closes some apps (i.e. Clementine, ktorrent, etc)?

Do you happen to have encrypted your home directory by any chance? I know how that causes issues for suspend and hibernate... Because I have one. The only way to fix that issue is to decrypt the swap (which is what is used to hibernate) .
