I just downloaded grub and now that I rebooted, I am in 'grub rescue mode'. 'ls' returns '(hd0)'. 'configfile' is an unknown command. 'set' returns 'prefix=(hd0)/boot/burg root=hd0'. I have no idea what to do and I'm an absolute noob when it comes to this kind of stuff so step-by-step instructions are needed. Please and thank you.

Are you talking about grub or burg?

You say you downloaded grub (why would you need to download it) but later it says prefix=(hd0)/boot/burg.

Are you trying to install burg as bootloader?

Yes sorry that's what I meant to say. I was trying to use burg as a bootloader, but it clearly isn't working.

Sorry, I don't work with burg and can't offer any instructions apart from what you can find on google.

Maybe someone else will jump in. Or consider going back to grub2.
