Somehow the 'b' key on my system got programmed to something else.

The change is user specific - if I log in as another user the problem goes away.

Nor is it through everything. It seems to be reprogrammed in terminals and inside vim. But not in web browsers and possibly not in gnome itself.

I use shared user profiles across boots of 10.10, 11.04 and 11.10 and the reprogramming is present through all.

If i start a terminal as root, the keys are fine,
But just a plain terming and no 'b'
I have renamed .bashrc .profile - still no joy.
