Why can't we create something like this (http://www.theverge.com/2012/2/24/2822891/windows-desktop-ui-concept)?

Technically I do not much about about ubuntu:confused:. I am using it since version on Ubuntu 10.10.But I think ubuntu will never make its operating look like as displayed in the blog! As you know Ubuntu is a open source operating system and is developed both by Canonical and its vast community so achieving such a visual is not a hard:p. But such a metro styles is opposite of unity or out of Gnome environment. Also such a visual only increase beautiyfulness of the system not the productivity! Hence Ubuntu is not going toward that Metro style. Remember Ubuntu is not Windows:guitar:! And if you find any English mistake then I am sorry! I hope you understand what I mean. Thank You!

Funny enough, that's exactly the opposite of the actual Metro interface, it's in fact just the usual desktop interface with a somewhat nice theme, plus it's made up by the author of that blog post. ;-)

Metro is this (the Windows 8 Start Screen) - and no, I don't think we want any of our available desktop interfaces to advance any further in the direction of becoming a giant smartphone interface for everyone. :P
