I just did a fresh reinstall of Ubuntu 11.10, installed updates and gnome-shell. Here I started playing with themes a little(using Gnome tweak tool and user-themes-extension), but it didn't behave as expected. I installed "Atolm" theme, but nothing really changed, only the top bar a little. I'm unable to change window theme. The only things that worked are icons and GTK+ theme change. I installed gnome-about to check gnome version and it tells me gnome 2.32.1.
WTF? I thought Gnome 3 was part of 11.10. Any ideas where I messed up?

Did you follow these instructions:

http://www.ubuntugeek.com/how-to-install-gnome-shell-in-ubuntu-11-10-oneiric-ocelot.html

If so, now you need to install a theme, for gnome shell, and I think I had to install Gnome Tweak Tools, so I could change some features...
