View Full Version : [lubuntu] Lubuntu 11.10 boots/shuts down slower than expected

Considering it's supposed to be optimized for low hardware I would have expected it to boot faster than e.g. Windows 7 or fancy Ubuntu with Unity. However on the same hardware:

Ubuntu 11.10 x86 starts in about 10 seconds / shutsdown in about 4
Win7x64 starts in about 12 seconds / shutdowns in about 4
Lubuntu 11.10 x86 starts in about 14 sec / shutdowns in about 10

(The numbers may be slightly off as they are from memory. They were measured after clean install)

Why is this so ?
Is there a way to speed it up ?
It would be quite useful to have it faster, especially for switching between W7/Linux

PS: I am running Lubuntu as my main distro and on a "powerful" hardware (not on a netbook) because I happen to like it the best so far but glitches like this spoil it a bit for me.
