I've been using Ubnutu 10.10 for quite some time and very, very happy. I'm in the market for a new desktop to replace my older HP system. I've been looking at this forum for incompaptibilities and it's quite daunting...

Is there a place to ask questions about either buying a stock desktop that will work with the latest ubuntu or about building my own desktop.

I say this only because I need a graphics card that is compatable and had daul out for two monitors. I know graphics is the one big issue with linux and that will be my main decison point for a desktop replacement.

Thanks,

D

Mmmm... random answers that come to mind:

- Nvidia graphics cards have good linux support. You can check/choose your particular one at the nvidia site (http://www.nvidia.com/object/unix.html).

- In these forums, you have sticky threads (http://ubuntuforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=332) with compatible and not compatible hardware, that may be very useful for you.

- There are linux people that drop now and then useful videos about building a compatible pc. Example (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bzBBkywRVbY&feature=digest_sun).

- Ubuntu has an official list of certified hardware (http://www.ubuntu.com/certification). This may help to choose a comercial system instead of caring to build yourself.

Hope this helps
