Kernel 2.6 is not booting with ubuntu 11.10

Hi

im new to kernel building and booting process.
recently i built kernel 2.6.35 on ubuntu 11.10 and installed it successfully. the grub.cfg is updated with the kernel 2.6.35 and able to see kernel versions 3.0 and as well as previous linux versiosns. Under previous linux versions sub menu, i can see 2.6.35. when selecting 2.6.35, it is stuck at splash screen. the splash screen is looks like corrupted.

I don't understand why you were going to use older kernel on 11.10.
