Hello,
I'm using 11.10 (oneiric) Gnome 3.2.1 (no unity) and there seems to be no way to hide my username from the user menu.
I've searched a while and only came up with the solution to set "show-real-name-on-panel" in dconf-editor to false. But without any result.

Thanks for any help

Hello and Welcome

If you are using the Gnome Shell there is a hide user name extension at the link . Make sure to allow scripts on the page if using NoScript . https://extensions.gnome.org/

I have my username missing on the unity panel.
I did not turn it of from dconf editor nor using the gsettings command from terminal.
I checked the schema in /usr/share/glib2.0/schemas it is alright.
But when i go to com.canonical.indicator there is no session option to turn real name on/off. I cannot waist time again in setting up the system. Please could you tell me whats wrong and how to get it back ?
