Hello

I'm getting started with 11.10 with a live USB but can't find a file manager that will let me browse the files in the live distro and on the hard disk (NTFS and ext4.)

This page (http://linuxlibrary.org/reviews/ubuntu-11-10-review/) says that "You can launch Nautilus by clicking on the file manager icon inside the Unity dock", but there's no such icon in the stock Ubuntu I'm using.

Where can I find the file manager?

Thank you.

Found it: Move the mouse to the Desktop bit in the upper left-hand corner, and in the menu that is displayed, choose Goto > Workspace (My own translation: using the localized French edition).

Is there a way to add a link in the bar on the left (Unity) so users can simply click on it instead of going through the menu?

Thank you.

Once you have Nautilus open, you should see the icon for it in the bar on the left. Right click it and choose "Keep in Launcher"
