Hi

Not sure if this is the right forum for this, but...

Just installed Ubuntu 11.10 and got the latest releae of Gnome.

When I plug an external devices in, they get properly mounted but don't show up on the Gnome desktop so I can only see them by going to the "places" menu.

Can't see any configuration options around this.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Sam

Install Ubuntu Tweak!
From here. http://ubuntu-tweak.com/
Click the Destop Icon Option, show mounted Drives;)

Hi samopn,

There is another way to deal with this problem.

1. Install "Advanced Settings" (its package name is "gnome-tweak-tool") with 'Software Center' or with 'Synaptic Package Manager'.
2. Open up "Advanced Settings" window.
3. Click on "Desktop" on the side pane.
4. - Have file manager handle the desktop => ON, - Show mounted volumes on the desktop => ON

Hope this helps.

Hi runrickus,

I also prefer "Ubuntu Tweak".
