Today i decided to install the Ettercap Tool by source code because of some problems with packet release. Im using tools like ettercap for research on network security.
Ettercap requires some libarys like gtk+. gtk+ requires even some (lot) more libarys.
So i just started installing those libarys: GLib, Pango, gdk-pixbuf, atk.
I really cant tell where the problem occured but after restarting my system the login panel doesnt show up. If i press the power key the shutdown menu shows up but the characters are cryptic like "[]". Tho its no problem to leave x to work with terminal.
Im running a nearly fresh Ubuntu 10.4
Im pretty sure the informations i just gave u are less than not helpfull but i am unconfident in using linux and i hope you can tell me what informations you need to help me.
