View Full Version : Browser game programming

Hi there,

I've been looking for fun ways to expand my (game)programming knowledge and portfolio.
Just for the record I've programmed games in Flash, XNA and javascript(Unity). I've also programmed other programs with C, C++ and C#, a bit of Java and know my way around HTML.
So I'm looking for a way to program browser games in Ubuntu. I heard Java was a good way to do this so I've worked with java applets in eclipse. But even the simple ones seem to take up a lot of CPU on my PC.
I've also worked with the jMonkeyEngine but I'm not looking for a 3D engine for. More like 2.5D where you see the world from a fixed point of view. I would like this because it seems to ask less from your computer and I like those games more(don't really know why).
So my question was if anyone here has experience with programming web games in Ubuntu and had some hints? Or perhaps someone can point me to an engine or IDE?
