So I installed 11.10 on fresh install. I had 10.04 before that. I have dualboot with windows vista. The sound worked really great in 10.04 but now when I installed 11.10, it detects no sound devices after updates and rebooting. I have realtek 1200ALC HD audio card integrated in my motherboard. I tried every fix I could find but nothing helped. I had enough and went back to 10.04.

Is my soundcard unsupported? Do I have to buy a new soundcard if I want 12.04 when it is fully released?

These two manuals give good advice for solving sound problems:

I have tried those too. They didn't work. I double checked just to be sure. Is my hardware causing it?
