Hello All

How many application icons do you keep in Unity Launcher?

For the context of this question, see

http://design.canonical.com/2012/03/task-switching-in-ubuntu-and-a-introduction-to-the-spread/

especially

"Added together this allows a power user to switch to any window of any application just by using the SUPER and NUMBER keys"

I seem to have 19 applications in my Launcher. I could remove six of them without missing it, though.

Hello 3rdalbum and all

I've got 17 apps and could get rid of 4 or so. The rest I use quite a lot

Anyone else out there using Unity?

I use 14, but the arrangement was completely unusable until I found the option to reduce the icon size for the Launcher in Compiz Config.

Without CCSM, Unity would suffer a thousand paper cuts....

Yes, that third-party add-on is also very useful. Not nearly as comprehensive as CCSM, but very good at what it does.

So good, in fact, it raises the question:

Why isn't it in an Advanced settings option in the Settings Panel?

No idea. My personal hope is that its going to go mainstream. I.e in the repos.

I tried to keep it minimal. But I switched to Gnome, Unity reminded me to much of my phone.

Gnome, click applications and get essentially the same thing without the obtrusiveness.

Where possible I try to add related items to the quicklist menu.
