usb username and password

I installed a live distro on a usb. the first time on start up it went straight to the desktop. i had to restart the computer but this time it was asking for user name and passwords. i did not set anything like that up. so is there a default to this?

Did you install it or did you make a Live USB?

If you have installed it, then you should have provided username and password during installation.
On Live USB default user is ubuntu. I don't think there is a password for that user.

i tried that didnt work. oh well i guess i can do the whole thing over again its not that big of deal.

Did you really restart, as in reboot, or did you simply logout?

If you logout from a live session the system will return to the login screen where the username is ubuntu and the password is left completely blank; just hit return.

humm that is a good question i dont recall. i will try it again and see what happens.
