I tried to install ubuntu 12.04 beta 1. I was using Gnome 3.2 from gnome-team PPA. After installing nothing shows up on logging in Gnome.

i tried restarting gnome-shell manually by logging in kde session.

smit@smit-pc:~$ gnome-shell --replace

Output is attached here.

Please help me out.

Same problem. GNOME 3 is unstable on Ubuntu 12.04.:(

The shell has been working fine here . Make sure you have 3.4 compatible extensions and themes. I found the extensions at the link and there are limited theme options at the moment.

I'm not sure if this will help, but I had a similar issue with Gnome3 (gnome-shell) not working after the 12.04 upgrade. When trying to login to "GNOME" in the login screen, it would start up gnome 2 instead.

I was running at the time the proprietary Nvidia driver (which I'm no longer doing due to some unrelated wine issues), but at the time uninstalling and reinstalling the Nvidia driver, brought my Gnome 3 install back to life.

I hope this offers some clue.
