Hi all, I'm looking for a tip to hide window borders to maximize screen real estate.

I'm aware of the ALT+F11 feature, but it tends to make the maximized application kind of sticky so that it hides panels and other stuff on the screen.

Looking at this post (http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=11655238&postcount=49) it looks like is possible to achieve what I'm after... I hope that Compiz is not required for such a thing.

Thanks in advance for any help.
Cheers! ^__^

Looking for a solution I stumbled on this procedure (http://askubuntu.com/questions/75284/remove-titlebar-from-maximized-terminal-window), but it looks too hacky for a simple task like this, isn't it?

Have a look at devilspie and wmctrl (both in repos)
