This is a really minor issue but bugs me all the same. Each time there are updates for my system there is always one package which appears (in Update Manager) which I can neither remove nor install. It's listed as Transitional mplayer and I cannot tick the box beside it.

Any ideas?

Find that package in synaptic and mark it then go to the package tab and find lock version. After that package will not be updated.

Mark it for upgrade, removal or complete removal?

If I mark it for upgrade synaptic tells me that gecko-mediaplayer and gnome-mplayer will be removed and mplayer2 installed. I'm not sure if this is a good or bad thing or how it will affect my default media player (smplayer).
