View Full Version : [ubuntu] laptop running very hot on pen drive install?

Can anyone advise me if this is normal or if there is something i need to? this particular laptop never runs hot and i am not even doing anything its on fire while sitting with ubuntu running off desktop with nothing else going on??

What are your hardware specs and what version of Ubuntu are you running? This can be due to several reasons:
1. Graphics driver. For ATI/nVidia it is often the better solution to use the proprietary drivers since they have better power management.
2. Fans are blocked by something.
3. Dust collected inside the laptop case, so that the air flow is not as designed
4. Old distribution not optimally supporting new hardware.
