How to install MIDI?

Hey everyone, I'm a musician who just installed Ubuntu 10.04 last night and I was wondering if it is possible to use MIDI with it? I also installed FL Studio 10 and am using it through WINE.

Install timidity and one of the soundfonts, eg fluid or musecore.

Totem should also play midi files with no problem. I am not sure what else may be needed for midi keyboards etc etc to be successful.
