要 fix 11.10, download http://people.canonical.com/~ypwong/947908/11.10/table.py, sudo cp table.py /usr/share/ibus-table/engine/table.py

I can type it without any problem in 12.04.
What's your locale? I tried zh_HK.UTF-8 and zh_TW.UTF-8, both work.

English (International with dead keys)
jasontam@jasontam-Aspire-S3:~$ locale
LANG=en_US.UTF-8
LANGUAGE=en
LC_CTYPE="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_NUMERIC=en_HK.UTF-8
LC_TIME=en_HK.UTF-8
LC_COLLATE="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_MONETARY=en_HK.UTF-8
LC_MESSAGES="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_PAPER=en_HK.UTF-8
LC_NAME=en_HK.UTF-8
LC_ADDRESS=en_HK.UTF-8
LC_TELEPHONE=en_HK.UTF-8
LC_MEASUREMENT=en_HK.UTF-8
LC_IDENTIFICATION=en_HK.UTF-8
LC_ALL=
Thanks in advance for he help

I have never used SCIM and have tried to get it going in Unity, but without success.
I have installed and configured the hot-key, but doesn't seem to activate in any way. I was also expecting it to have some icon in the panel like ibus, but it doesn't.
Would you be able to give some simple instructions of how to setup SCIM in Unity to type cantonese with jyutping?
Thanks a lot :)
PS: Are there any more news with iBus?

你好!
I'm a 日本人 just studying cantonese and I'd like to make some cantonese strings via my ubuntu linux (12.10).
I'd installed ibus-table-cantonese and ibus-table-cantonhk, but I can't understand theese table use whitch pinyin tables!
(Cantonese has so many pinyin tables. I'm a bigger student of cantonese, so I can't input chinese character smoothly.)
I have two questions to hongkong's ubuntu users.
1) Whitch is the best input method in ubuntu linux to input the cantonese-chinese strings?
2) In ibus-table-cantonsese and ibus-table-cantonhk, whitch pinyin method uses(yale, Sidney Lau, LSHK)?

Hi All,
I also come across such problem after upgraded to 12.04 LTS, my way of solving such problem is to create a simple script file and run it at startup:
$ cat startIBUS.sh
#!/bin/sh
LC_CTYPE="zh_HK.utf8" /usr/bin/ibus-daemon --daemonize --xim --replace
This method will let you keep your current language environment unchanged (en_US.UTF-8 or other languages you prefer), but forcing zh_HK.UTF-8 locale for ibus only.
