How about watching it live in ASCII?
write in the console

telnet ascii-wm.net 2006
but first wait for a mach to start ;)

The BBC do stream the matches for Broadband users
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/world_cup_2006/bbc_coverage/5037426.stm
Click the grey rectangle in the upper right hand corner for audio & video

Edit - Sorry - I have found out that the feed is for the UK only

Here's a Link (http://6initiative.com/how-to-mask-your-ip-and-use-country-restricted-sites-2/) to mask your IP that will enable you to use "Country Restricted" Services. Maybe get the stream from the BBC?

Unfotrunately it seems to revolve around IE.

For Firefox :-
Firefox:
Tools
Options
General (tab)
Connection Settings (button)
Manul Proxy Configuration (radio button)
HTTP Proxy (as for IE)

Good Info. That's if you can wade through the world's busiest webpage!

BBC UK did not stream the video of the 1st semi-final on their web-site.

ESPN360 (US) only supports Flash Player version 8 or above, the latest version for Linux is 7.
