View Full Version : [SOLVED] Hardware Combatibility List

A very long time ago, I remember discovering a hardware compatibility list on Ubuntu Forums (ubuntuforums.org). Now I discover that there is a Hardware Support section of the Ubuntu Community Wiki (wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupport) which tells me that the 'table of hardware' is being phased out. But the Ubuntu Certified & Ubuntu Friendly programs only include PCs.

I live in Ottawa, Canada and need a new printer. I want to purchase a colour injet all-in-one that will work with Ubuntu. So ... 1) found what units are being sold in Ottawa, 2) checked with Consumer Reports to get a feel for their quality, and 3) wanted to check to see which ones will work with Ubuntu.

Could someone direct me to where I would find help establishing the compatibility of the various printers with Ubuntu?

Note: This thread should be posted under 'ubuntu' not 'lubuntu'. Can't see how to fix this.

Have a look here, it will tell you how well a specific printer is supported.

I also found some information on the Ubuntu Wiki at

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupportComponentsPrinters

but they give warnings that it is all out of date. On the other hand it contains a link to

http://www.linuxfoundation.org/collaborate/workgroups/openprinting

which may be worth checking out.
