How does one turn off unity 2D and turn 1 of the gnome 3/4 on?

I think you need to install your Graphics card drivers first if you haven't done so yet.

Then you install Gnome 3 by doing


sudo apt-get install gnome-shell


Then you just change the session in the login screen. :popcorn: I didn't understand what you meant with the "4" though as there is only Gnome 3 released so far (Unless you talk about KDE 4)

Which version of Ubuntu is this? If Natty, running Gnome-Shell might cause a few glitches as Natty is based on Gnome 2.x while Gnome Shell is Gnome 3.
