I found a few threads, but I could not find one specific to my hardware. I have an Asus M5A78L-M LX PLUS (http://ubuntuforums.org/support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=M5A78L-M%20LX%20PLUS&p=1&s=24&os=30&hashedid=IZxHVUuVo8OWSDbz) and a freshly updated installation of Ubuntu 11.10. I am folding@home on the PC and the intranet and internet is slow. I see download speeds topping out around 200kbps on a 1.5mbps rated line. I also have a shared folder HFM reads from a Win 7 PC and it times out quite often.
I do have a 2nd hard drive for a dual boot of Win 7. If I download a file on Ubuntu, it tops out at 200KB/s. If I download the same file on Win 7 it tops out a 1.7MB/s.
I am hard-wired to a D-Link DIR-615 router running DD-WRT firmware that is connected to a cable modem with Time Warner.
As you can see in the link to my motherboard, there is no Linux driver support. I was thinking it may be driver related, but this is actually my first time using Ubuntu and I have very little knowledge of Linux.
Edit:
Here is my ifconfig information if that helps:

Cable is fine and router port is fine, but I tried another cable and router port just in case, but still really slow. If you guys have some idea's, I would gladly try them. Until then, I will try a PCI NIC when I get home later.
