Get package dependencies with python

Is there a way to get package dependencies with a python script? Well, there's got to be a way, but how?

I'm talking about deb.-packages, if that were unclear. I've also got Dapper, if that helps.

Or can you tell me where I can find the dependencies? Then I can work out the script on my own.
