[new startup company] offers something it calls "cloud paging" and, if successful, it could be a game-changer for enterprise software (http://www.businessinsider.com/were-blown-away-this-startup-could-literally-change-the-entire-software-industry-2012-3#), video gaming, and smartphone apps. Red Hat (http://www.businessinsider.com/blackboard/red-hat) thinks so. It has already partnered with the company to help it offer Windows (http://www.businessinsider.com/blackboard/windows) software to Linux users...

Apparently it delivers and executes snippets of executable code from the application. It also involves some sort of flexibility in re-purposing clients as servers...

Just sounds like WAN virtual app/desktop delivery to me... unless I'm missing something

The licensing check out/check in isn't new either, citrix has had license control limits for years on published apps.

In other words, kidnapping their customer's machines to do their work for them, while snooping on your programs by "helping" them execute?

I'm sorry, I'm fundamentally distrustful and paranoid of the whole shift to "cloud" computing and its implications to IT security and privacy. I'll do my computing locally, thank you very much.
