Hi all. I recently built a computer out of components ordered off new egg. it boots up fine it seems, but in trying to install Ubuntu on it (multiple versions have been tried, 12.04, 11.10, 11.04, both 32 bit and amd64), the animated logo (red dots turning white turning red) freezes. I found that by pressing an arrow key, I could see some terminal output of what is going on, and it seems that the install process freezes when my CPU starts stalling, with output like this:

INFO: rcu_sched detected stalls on CPUs/tasks with a bunch of hexadecimal numbers in subsequent lines.

Any ideas?

Solved this issue, but another has cropped up not appropriate for this subform (but related to this one, oddly enough.
