Started to hang or free intermittently about a month ago. Waited about thirty minutes but still froze. Used the Alt+PrintScreen+r+s+e+i+u+b. Desktop rebooted and worked OK with no corrupted data or OS. At first I thought might be a problem with my Ethernet as always seems to happen while I was using my browser. Now it happens at other times, K3B writer was coming up one time when it froze. Today I had just powered up the unit and it froze right after I had opened a PDF file. No matter how long I wait no response from keybopard or mouse. The mouse will still move but not respond even if I click on stuff on the top bar: system, places, and applications. One other interesting behaviour is that when it is frozen and I use the Alt+PrintScreen and press each key in sequence that it appears to respond. Goes blank when I press the Alt+PrintScreen+U, and reboots when I press the Alt+PrintScreen+B.
I have included the kernal log and the system log during the time that it last occurred. Not sure if this is hardware or software issue. Any body got any ideas how to proceed with this very intermittent issue (days between freezes)?

Unit has not frozen for the last three days. More research on the alt print screen revels that it is the equivalent of the SysRq Key which allows you to send some low level commands independent of the system state. This means that if the system is frozen you can use these key combinations to perform certain actions and thus regain control.
Since this works does that mean that something is possible hosed in x window? I am stumped. I need some opinions of the more experienced techie types. All ideas and opinions are greatly welcomed and appreciated.

Did I POST into wrong forum? Would the moderator please redirect my post to correct forum.

Computer froze up again yesterday. Always able to reset with a warm reboot. Not sure which logs to check?

Hi, I have the same problem with Natty. For me the problem occurs each time I try to connect to a wireless network.

Since I am not the only one having this issue, I am now leaning toward some sort of issue with the Gnome desktop ver 2.32.1 since the Linux kernel never seems to stop and I am always able to to a warm reboot. Any other ideas out there?
