Ctrl+Shift+[Right/Left arrow] to select words not working on 11.10 Unity

Hello,

I've upgraded from Ubuntu 10.04 to 10.10 to 11.04 to 11.10.

I've discovered that keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+[Right/Left arrow] to select by words not working in the Unity desktop. The behavior depends on which of those two (Ctrl/Shift) is clicked first: movement by words or selecting by character.

Does Ubuntu try to interpret this key combination somehow differently, thus swallowing the Select-by-words function?

It should work correctly.

I suspect that one of the Compiz settings has been set to note that combination.

Unfortunately, I know of no quick way to find it. Just go through all the enabled settings to search for that combination.

Before that, however, open Keyboard Settings and check if anything there is set to take Ctrl-Shift-Right or Left.
