Hi all,
I bought a new laptop from Dell and now I would like to make it dual boot Windows 7 with Ubuntu 11.10.
Windows 7 is already installed on the laptop. I have attached a screenshot that shows the partition situation in gParted.
My first question is: how many partitions are already used, 3 or 4? I am guessing 3 but I am not sure what to make of the
unallocated stuff.
In case there are three as I think, then my plan is to shrink sda3 (by using Partition Wizard from within Windows) and then
use the unallocated space left to create a new extended partition and within it, a few logical partitions needed for the
Ubuntu installation. Does this sound ok to you?
In case there are four partitions (unlikely), which partition would be a candidate for a deletion? I would like to be able to
re-install/recover Windows installation at some later time, if possible.
And one more thing: I would actually like to tripple-boot (Windows7/Ubuntu 11.10/Kubuntu 11.10), so the plan is to create
one logical partition (/) for Kubuntu 11.10, one logical partition (/) for Ubuntu 11.10 and one swap logical partition, inside
the extended partition I mentioned above. Does this sound ok?
I appreciate any tips and suggestions.
Thank you in advance!
