hello ubuntu members, i am very new to ubuntu and was trying to download the OS for my desktop; and i haven't done that yet. i am planning to install it directly to my hd with my existing win xp os. i followed the instructions as per ubuntu's web advise but wasn't successful enough to download the os because it says "This object has been blocked".

please advise and thanks.

I personally recommend and use what's called a "BitTorrent Client" for downloading large files such as Ubuntu .iso's.

If the download was blocked then it was blocked by the web browser. And as you are downloading from XP the browser would be Internet Explorer, would it not? Have you put into Internet Explorer some kind of security setting that restricts some types of files from being downloaded?

Regards.
