... and I am tempted to touch.

It's a leap year so tomorrow is the 29th. Beta due March1st.

You could just install the daily live ISO and keep it up to date. No need to wait.

I just broke my Precise install yesterday (again), so I'm waiting for the beta before giving it another go as well.

The difference between todays daily build and the beta 1 on Thursday is very minimal. I.e. 48 hours worth of updates. The beta is just a snapshot in time.

And I prefer to have those updates in the .iso for when I break everything again and have to re-install. ;)

I am looking forward to this LTS which seems to be headed in a good direction but I think I'm going to wait for the RC.

I updated to Precise as soon as i could and it has been incredibly stable considering it's in development. I've hardly had any problems to fix and it has just pretty much just worked.

I have to say i am loving it.

I booted into my 10.04 install for the first time in ages the other day and the old interface now looks so dated to my eyes.

I plan to wait until RC myself as well. Looking forward to 12.04.

Yup,looking at LTR of Xubuntu or Kubuntu most likely..
So,when do updates stop for 10.10..March?

I had a failed install with an ISO last week and when I did finally get it running it crashed. I tried again. I am now up and running smoothly. The difference in a week seems to be a lot of progress. I installed yesterday and tested all afternoon and evening. I look forward to updating on the 1st or late the 31st :)

Then you might as well wait until Friday, and have yet another day's worth of updates in the iso. Or better yet, wait until Saturday and have two more days' worth. ;)

The beta is just March 1st's daily snapshot that they slapped a name on. If you want to wait for an extra day's worth of updates on the iso, you may as well just keep waiting until the final release.

And dont forget about zsync. Here's the command I use. You have to be in the directory where the iso is.

cd Downloads
zsync http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/precise-desktop-amd64.iso.zsync

This saves on bandwidth for both parties.

I didn't know. That's fantastic! Thanks.

So this is totally offtopic.

I was downloading the Windows 8 beta to check out what metro looks like, and the download stopped at 530 MB. It is suppose to be a 2.5GB file.

Are you saying I can use Zsync to continue the download from where it was cut off? :)

Only if there exists a zsync file for that file, an iso in this case.

I doubt that will work for a windows iso.

I know it's early in the day but where can we (or be able to) get it? So far, I can't find any download buttons.

Hasn't been released yet.

Check here should have thread when it happens:

Also mailing list usually announces it(official), but I can't find proper link.

Thanks philinux, that is one download method I'd previously never even heard of. The beta has now been released according to cariboo907 --here-- (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1934210).

Downloading with zsync now to give it a test out (plenty of spare partitions here :)).

Wait a min. The 64-bit version is for AMD only? What about Intel?

It's just the name of the architecture. It works fine on Intel or AMD chips.
