...i am stuck at grub screen...PLEASE HELP.
What do you mean by "stuck"? What exactly happens and what does not work?

oldfred
February 27th, 2012, 09:21 PM
There is a bug in the boot info script so it does not make it clear if you are booting from sda7or sda9. You have installs in both. But sda7 seems to be missing something as this does not say Ubuntu like sda9 does:
Operating System:

Your XP install in sda1 also has a grub file/folder which should not be there, delete this from sda1 only:
/boot/grub/core.img

It may be easiest to download and run this and reload grub2's boot loader to the MBR for sda9:

Boot Repair:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Boot-Repair
You can repair many boot issues with this or post the link to a run of boot info script so we can see your exact configuration.

You should not install grub2's boot loader to partition boot sectors.

I followed ur advice (Boot Repair) it worked, but my system now boot into ubuntu directly.
I am not getting option to select OS at startup ( dual os at boot ).... I would really like to boot into xp.... Thank U for your advice in advance....
I ran the boot script again ...below are the details ....hope it helps.

Boot script shows the Windows XP entry in both installs? Which drive are you booting from as both now show grub2 entries?

But you should delete this the grub folder in Windows:

I have deleted /boot/grub/core.img from Windows, now I am able to boot both os's ( xp/ubuntu ).

However the grub menu is not visible at boot.... I have to blindly hit array keys to select os....
I have tried Grub-Customizer with not results... I keep getting a message INPUT NOT SUPPORTED for some seconds before booting either to xp or ubuntu.... Can u Pleas Help.

Is there some way to make the grub boot menu visible....Thank You For your Advice/Help in advance.

If you hold down shift key, from BIOS until menu appears, your should get menu. But with 2 systems you should be getting menu anyway unless with grub customizer you changed settings to hide menu.

Error may be part of issue. Is that before grub menu, or part of booting. If shift key works then that may tell us something.

Resetting an out‐of‐range resolution (does not include grub's set gfxmode=640x480)

Sorry for the delayed reply .....
I finally solved the GRUB menu issue after changing grub screen resolution to ( 800x600x16/8 ) in GRUB CUSTOMIZER, my system somehow does not support 24 bit color.
Anyway THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP :p
