I am trying to print some 300x300 ppi jpegs on my HP PSC 1210 all-in-one printer. They print in "normal quality" mode but with lower res and some grain. When I print them in "photo" they are only grayscales and the x y propotions are wrong.
I am using the latest HP LIP driver and Ubuntu 10.04 and have fiddled with everything that should help.
When I print the same jpegs from Windows running in a VirtualBox session using the HP driver for Windows it looks fine.
Could it be that this printer is not fully supported for higher res printing???
Any help or direction pointing will be appreciated. I have too many pinter cartridges to toss this printer.

Well, after much searching I found out that the HPLIP drivers do not fully support whatever protocol this printer uses, LIDIL.
Reminds me of WinModems, offloads duties to the cpu for cheapness.
When my last inkjst cartridge runs out this thing goes to the landfill.
