network problem

I have installed ubuntu 11.10 and now when i want to update or install some softwares it is always displaying the message of failed internet connection whereas my net is working fine...
please help me thnxx..

Enter this command in a terminal and post the output between the code tags (# button).

sudo apt-get upgrade

You probably have an invalid URL for a software source. The output of the command should tell us where it is.
